Tony Abood, D.O.

Dr. Tony Abood graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed a residency in Family Medicine and went on for a fellowship in Geriatrics.

Dr. Abood’s driving force to pursue a career in medicine came at the young age of two years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia. Having been in and out of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for most of his childhood, interacting with many healthcare professionals, inspired him to become a physician. He understands the impact of physicians on their patients when going through a challenging health situation having gone through it himself.

Dr. Abood is a board-certified family physician with years of experience in traditional fee-for-service as well as value based care, for which he served as a medical director. Driven by a deep commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Abood is now transitioning to direct primary care (DPC) to provide more personalized and accessible healthcare. In their DPC practice, Dr. Abood focuses on building stronger doctor-patient relationships, offering longer appointments, and emphasizing preventive care. This shift allows Dr. Abood to work directly with patients without the constraints of insurance-based billing, ensuring a more transparent and responsive approach to healthcare. He is well aware that not all patients are alike. Therefore, he has always believed in spending time with his patients to understand their needs and goals and together, devising a plan of action that will help each patient live a healthy and happy life.

In his free time, Dr. Abood enjoys spending time with his family and has a passion for music. He has been playing the drums since he was eight years old.
